There is a lack of public space in Zdrijac, similar to other Mediterranean regions shaped by tourism urbanization processes. Public space, apart from the beach, is a fundamental need in order to sustain a community that resides or visits the place throughout the year. ‘Zdrijac Island’ is a proposal for redefining the public space without undermining future accommodation needs. Therefore, a mixed-use typology is introduced, with a public gallery on the ground floor, that lies perpendicular to the costal perimeter and brings the public to the central areas. By strengthening the perimeter, through a continuous public ring, the idea of Zdrijac as an Island is fulfilled.
